  • Heat Exchange

I have a 30ft Powercat with two Suzuki DF175 outboards. The port side motor has two heater hoses running up to the transom which pass the engine's cooling water through a heat exchanger in the boat's water heater.
There is some leakage inside the boat's hull which I do not want to fix until it next comes out of the water.
Can someone confirm that I can block the pipes emerging from the motor casing or do I need to maintain a loop there?

For now I have terminated the pipes to the heat exchanger, no issues yet.

Taking the engine cowling off to figure out where the plumbing taps in to the cooling system doesn't help because the engine conceals the area. This might be more apparent when the boat comes out for servicing.

It might help if you could post a pic or 2 where it comes off the motor.
Generally (like on an auto heater core), I would suggest looping the two outlets on the motor, as they should continue to properly cool your motor. The two lines going to your heat exchanger may need to be plugged if there is any chance outside water might get into the hull?

Post back if able with pics. Good luck.
