My oil presure alarm is going off at idle whether in gear or not. If I give it a little throttle the alarm turns off and all is fine. If I give it to much throttle the rev limiter kicks in. It runs at speed above idle perfectly at all rpms but as soon as I pull it back to idle speed within 2 minutes the alarm comes back on. I've had the oil sensor replaced as a precaution but the problem still persists. My motor is a 2013 and has 2200 hrs. I'm a guide and I realize this is a lot of hours for the average owner but I know commercial guys and other guides with 175's that have twice the hours that I have. Other than this problem the motor runs great and I've meticulously maintained it as its my livelihood. My mechanic does not seem to believe it's the oil pump because the motor runs great above idle. Some advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

If you went to the trouble of changing the switch, why didn't your mechanic connect up a gauge and check the pressure at idle, it would give you piece of mind knowing that the oil pressure was good. Is the oil light coming on with the buzzer, or is it just buzzing. The buzzer will come on with long beeps if the battery voltage is low.

rev limiter kicks in.
Water in Fuel Alert System Description
CENDG2111101009
This engine is equipped with an integral fuel filter/water
separator and associated alert system.
The alert system will activate if water separated from the
fuel exceeds a specific volume.
If this system activates, the red REV-LIMIT lamp will
flash and a buzzer will begin a series of triple beeps
when the engine is in neutral only.
If this system activates, stop the engine, and check the
fuel filter/water separator for water.
For inspection and cleaning of the fuel filter, refer to the
“Low Pressure Fuel Filter Inspection” in Section 0B
(Page 0B-14) and “Water Detection Switch Inspection” in
Section 1G (Page 1G-26).
Monitor-Tachometer
if it is low pressure fuel filter it comes apart and you can dump the water
has a wire under a bowl bowl holds about 4 oz of fuel it is clear

Aldog1, you need to do as redlowrey suggests and hook up an oil pressure gauge (preferably of the mechanical variety) and check the actual pressure at various RPMs. That is the only way to know for sure that the oil pressure is right and the pump is performing properly. The only specs that I find in the manual, is 57-85 psi @3000 RPM. There is no spec for pressure at idle. But I would suggest that if you are right down near that 57 psi figure at 3K RPM, then there is likely a problem in the system that the alarm is alerting you to. If however you have positively assured yourself that you do not have an oil pressure problem, only then proceed to work on eliminating the "false alarms." Check the pressure first then come back and we'll help you through the analysis of the sensor/alarm problem.
Edit ... correction .... the manual DOES indicate in another section that the oil pressure alarm will activate when the pressure drops below 14 psi at any RPM, which, if that is the case at idle, would be the cause of the alarm.Last edited by Harper; 01-31-2016, 08:34 PM.Mike

now you got take me fishing since all I catch is rock fish and some are over 1000lb and break my line change your oil filter and make sure you use 10-30 or 10-40 oil
Low Oil Pressure Caution System
Condition:
Immediate activation of the system when the oil pressure switch is turned “ON” due to an engine oil pressure drop
below 100 kPa (1.0 kg/cm2, 14 psi.) while the engine is running.
Action:
NOTE
If the engine is automatically stopped due to the caution system, the engine can be started again.
However, the caution system will repeatedly activate until the cause is eliminated.
Reset:
Stop the engine and check the engine oil level. Refill the engine oil to the correct level if it is below the low oil level
mark.
If the engine oil level is correct, the following causes may be considered:
• Improper oil viscosity.
• Malfunctioning oil pressure switch.
• Clogged oil strainer or oil filter.
• Worn oil pump relief valve.
• Oil leakage from the oil passage.
• Excessive wear/damage of oil pump.
NOTE
The low oil pressure caution system will reset when the oil pressure is restored to over 100 kPa (1.0
kg/cm2, 14 psi.) at approx. 1 000 r/min. or less engine speed operation.
The engine must be stopped and checked immediately once the system is activated.

2007 175 Similar Oil Pressure Problems
I have a 2007 DF175 with similar conditions.. My mechanic checked the oil pressure, and it is around 5 psi... He thinks the powerhead needs to be removed for further inspection.. The engine has approximately 116 hrs.. The oil has been changed, and there is a off market filter installed.. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance! Kevin

oil pressure switch
I have an intermittently blinking "check engine light" (not oil light) hat blinks in the code of 5-3 which apparently isn't in the manuals. A representative from Suzuki Motors told me that's the oil pressure switch. It doesn't enable the rev limiter though. Engine runs fine.
