  • NMEA connection

*EDIT* after some thought I now realize that the K8 reverse adapter IS the SDS adapter cable. My next question is about the trim plug that is on the SMIS interface cable set, would I have to get a 15ft extension cable for that as well to route to the console so I can view trim readings on my '07 DF175 ??

Yes, if you want trim data on the digital display. But then the anaolgue trim gauge will not work.

Do you currently have an analogue trim gauge that works? If so, you could keep it and not worry about the trim connection to the network. Thats what I did.

      Nmea

I do not currently have an analog trim gauge display. I only have a speedo and separate RPM gauge.

        nmea connection

Took the hood off yesterday and tried to find the trim plug. I think I found it down low (black wire and white w/yellow stripe) plug but it was connected to something. I only have manual gauges( no trim gauge), Im confused as to why or what this could be plugged into-unless i am looking at the wrong plug. Also my next question is- I plan on getting a lowrance elite 7 TI, will this unit(the sticky in this forum only lists the HDS model as being capable to do this) let me downgrade the software on the interface cable set to 2.5( I have a '07 DF175??

The trim plug is normally plugged into the engine harness from the factory, so you will need to disconnect it to plug it into the interface connector.

Regarding the Elite, i am pretty sure it has very limited NMEA2000 capability so i doubt if it will be able to display engine data or update the interface software. But, check the owners manual, if it shows that engine data pages are actually available, then you are probably in luck.

But be careful to check it before buying!

Edit: i had a look at the manual online and it says that it can show engine data, dashboards etc. so on that basis, it SHOULD be able to upload software to the network. You could check with Lowrance if you want to be 100% sure.
