  • Hello from Germany and problem with DF140 prop

    Hello

I am Ruppi from Germany .
    I have a Glastron Carlson CVX16 with a Suzuki DF140 from the jear 2011.
The engine is mount 1" higher . Now I 'm looking for a suitable propeller . The boat should be at least 56mph fast – so I need at a 2,59:1 gear ratio a propeller with 28 " pitch .
Do you have a good tip for me what propeller should I use ?

    Greetings
    Ruppi

You really need to base your prop sizing on the RPMs achieved at wide open throttle, instead on what you think should be the top speed of your boat. You need a prop that will allow you to achieve around 5800-6200 RPM at wide open throttle at your normal operating weight. Choosing your prop in this manner will assure the longest life for your DF140.

The rpm will be ok. At the moment i have a 24" Ballistic- the suzi make 6300rpm and more. The weight of the boat is at 1100lbs.

Okay, now that we are getting a little more information, we can make a better choice. 6300 RPM is a little high, I think. You do not indicate the diameter of the prop. You can't find any props much higher that 25" pitch, and 14" diameter is about as big as you can use. So just a little bit more pitch or a little larger diameter would bring your RPMs down to the proper range. And also should theoretically give you a little more speed if 140 HP can manage it.

          as he said
Suzuki allows you to go to 24 at 28 I was getting slower speed from 39 to 30 and only 4000 rpm vs 5600rm
you will go faster in 20 which is standard prop for df 140 ... my boat is center at about 2500lb
20 prop will give correct load on engine and you are able to get 5600 to 6200 rpm on max throttle
if you want to go faster pull the prop out of water trim up

            Hello

I think you dont understand me.
My boat is very light and the Suzi has enough Power for 55mph (nearly 90km/h) For this speed at 6000rpm I need a Prop with 28” pitch!
If I mount a Prop with 22” pitch the suzi turns to 6500rpm and the speed is 47mph. that is too slow and the rpm too high…
So- can anybody tell me where I can get a prop with 28” pitch and 13-14” diameter which I can use for the Suzi?

            Thank you

You would appreciate that the boat/motor combination that you have is quite unusual. Looks like it an older high performance ski-boat. Very nice from the photos that I googled. Seems that quite a few of these boats are being restored and updated.

So you are getting close to being into the territory of high performance propellors. You are likely to get more assistance with choosing a suitable prop from sites that focus on such performance type of ski boats.

Nevertheless, i took some time out of my morning and did a very quick search for you on Suzuki propellors. Immediately this search showed up the listing from the Suzuki website showing all available Suzuki props.

And I found a Suzuki 3 x 14 x 28 prop is available in the US. It appears to be available from the link below. If it is for some reason not suitable, then i suspect you will need to research further on various propellor manufacturer websites.

Folks, it would be helpful, if you are from the US or another English-speaking country, to take the time and trouble to make at least a small attempt to punctuate your sentences and to use a reasonable facsimile of the English language. Not only does it make for less painful reading by the rest of us who use the English language every day, it is much easier to decipher for those on the forum to whom English is a second language.

Everybody makes typos, but laziness is no excuse for the total lack of punctuation, capitalization, etc.

Understand, this is NOT addressed to Ruppi30.

it is listed on ebay.com .. I will ship to Germany cost be about $86 us dollars and I see why you are having problem getting it since e bay allowed me international but will not let me exclude countries like Iraq, eutopia etc so it is all or none and I chose no international good luck

you know this but I like to mention it that by trimming up you can go faster since you get a higher rmp and by adding a cup or a lip to prop you can grip the water better ..
