When I pull the starboard throttle lever back to neutral sometimes the engine stays in forward. so I bump back on lever and it goes into neutral. Then when I try to start engine it gets no power to starter until I bump lever back towards the reverse. how can I adjust lever back to match the Port control lever? Do I need to raise the control box up out of the dashboard to get to this adjustment? This is on a 2006 df 175 suzuki

I would suspect you need to make an adjustment where the throttle/shift cable terminates on the starboard side of the engine
Your remote control lever is in netural but the netural switch on the engine is off ever so slightly
The push rod that connects to the shift lever may need about one turn out (to lengthen it)
You should also inspect the condition of the neutral switch to make sure it is operating correctly
