DF140 Lower unit year compatibility question

I have a 2002 DF 140 with shifting issues, the horizontal slider gets galled up and does not slide smoothly. I want to dump the entire lower unit and get a new take-off lower unit from someone who installs jet drives on suzukis. I've found several from the 2009 and up range, will these units work on the 2002 engine? Thanks for any advice.

Find a good Suzuki mechanic.. he should know the answer
however, if you can find the part on the parts page.. there is usually a list of all the engines that part fits on at the bottom of the listing..

From memory, there was a gear ratio change from the early DF140's to the later ones, and your 2002 would be in the early range. I dont know whether there were further changes than that.

first the throttle body could use some grease I fixed my shifting problem that way also if you are in saltwater near cowling there is an area that needs to be washed and grease the shifter .
I have replace my lower unit at 4k on a 2002 and I was told that without serial number it is strong possibility that lower unit will not work even though both lower unit are 2002 as Suzuki makes several model for each year you need to know the serial number of each engine to buy a lower unit or you will be playing the lottery game
in 2002 they made k2 k3 and k4 df 140 I think
