  • What is the df30 4 stroke Fuel Inject Correct Idle RPM

I have the 2015 df30a hp lean burn fuel inject outboard, just installed one of those small RPM gauge that you wrap the wire round the spark plug wire and it displays the hours and RPM,s, my reading is 870 RPM when ran for about a minute, motor was not fully warmed up, just need to know if this little gauge is working correctly.

Now fully warmed up it reads 840-850 RPM,s..

Also another question is who sells a small 2 inch tach gauge for outboards, seems like all tach gauges for boats are about 4 inch in diameter, I have a small RIB with a tiny console and no room for a 4 inch gauge but could fit a 2 inch but no where have I found a 2 inch RPM gauge expect for automobiles.

My DF30A, warmed up, reads about 650 on the 4" digital gauge. Not to say your gauge is wrong, your idle might be set a little higher.

If you go to the parts page at the top of the forum
Type in Suzuki tach 2 inch
You can scroll through the results
After you pull up the part scroll to the bottom and there is a list of engines that the part works for

I am pretty sure that all the EFI 4 stroke Suzukis have idle speeds of 650+- 20 rpm. So it sounds to me like your tiny tacho gizmo isnt set correctly for the type of motor it is attached to, or, it isnt reading correctly for some reason.

As Art said, the 2" smis display might be an option, but you will have to set up a NMEA2000 network and get an interface cable. So add $160 to the price of the SMIS display to getvthe total cost, its going to get a bit expensive. Plus, where to place all the network cables etc might be a bit problematic on your RiB. But anyway, yes, this setup will work with your DF30a 2015 model.

Maybe play around with the settings on the tiny tacho and see if you can get it to work more accurately instead?

Yea it appears the tiny tach is not working correctly, I just ordered a 4 inch tach for Suzuki motor and just going to install it under my seat, no room on console for anything unless its a small 2 inch gauge and I will even have to remove the 12 volt plug to do that, I just need to see my RPM,s at max throttle to see if I need to go to a 13 pitch prop.

            Thanks for the help
