I have a 2005 DF70 that’s getting water in the oil. I purchased this unit used several years ago. After the first oil change I noticed the condition. Changed oil for two additional seasons and last year noticed engine developing noises due to water in oil. I run a pair of these units on my small houseboat. Engine always started and ran fine. At the end of last year I pulled and installed new short block and head assembly with all new gaskets. I could not fine any signs of where the water was coming from in the old assembly. I now have about 10 hours on the rebuilt unit and again am seeing water in the oil. Has others seen this condition and recommend possible locations where or how this water is getting in the oil. New rebuild runs fine.

I checked this area out real good when I had the motor apart installing the new block assembly and head assembly and it all looked good. Old gaskets and engine holder and oil pan surfaces looked good. I have studied the water flow diagram and you are right. Everything points back to this area. I see no other way water can get into the oil since engine runs fine and ran find with original parts. I have even talked to my local Suzuki shop and they offered no suggestions. I guess I will pull part and do closer inspection of the engine holder and oil pan. Thanks for your input. I had read somewhere that a bad thermostat could lead to excessive condensation. This seems like a lot of water for that. Comments!

Suzuki did not call for sealant on that gasket. When I replaced my engine holder, I had milky oil after test running it for 20 minutes. I lifted power head again and used a very, very thin coat on both sides of a new gasket. Never had a problem since then. I used a permatex synthetic oil gasket sealant. Ready for another thousand hours, I hope.

Briscoe, thanks for info. That’s probably what I am going to do. I also will do another double take on looking at the engine holder and oil pan for possible hair line cracks etc. As I originally stated I purchased this motor used and problem probably existed then. I ran it enough with the water problem and bearing wear started showing up(engine started rattling a little).
