  • Df140 Won't start

Been fishing today and engine started all day .got back to ramp , turn engine of and went to start it no go. Gauges lit up beeper primed engine kill switch hooked turned key to start no power to engine ....this happened a couple of weeks ago and I played with kill switch and away we went .......now played with kill switch still nothing at engine ,,,,,could this be kill switch?

It is possible that it's the kill switch, since you say that jiggling it last time resolved the problem. It would be rare, because the kill switch is an open switch with the lanyard in place, and it's when you pull the lanyard that the switch closes, grounding the ignition circuit. But you can check it easy enough by unplugging the wires from the kill switch and attempting the start. If it starts, you've found the source of your problem. If not, well, then you've got more troubleshooting to do, starting with a fuse check, wires, cables, connectors, the ignition switch, etc.

      Thanks

Thank you , are there fuses on the motor? And it does seem funny as to last time it would not start and yes we pulled the kill switch in and out then it started. However this time I did not touch the kill switch at all until it wouldn't start thinking that's it.......mmmm it's intermittent

Is there anything else not working? Power trim from the forward remote?

Make sure the control are in neutral. It will not let you start if it is still engaged. You make have to shift into gear and back to neutral. Sometime the cable is not adjust correctly at motor and it doesn't make at the neutral switch. Hope that help.

Instead of "wont start", do you really mean, "wont turn over"? If so, I would say 99% sure it's the neutral safety switch that is under the hood, starboard side, where the throttle linkage is. It's a common problem.

                  Won't turn over

Yes I mean that it won't turn over.........all gauges are lit and it goes through its check with beep at the end turn key and I have nothing....you can here the injectors working when you hit the key but no starter ....I checked the starter and all is fine there.....when turning key I wriggle the throttle and you here the injectors stop as I Move the throttle up and down.......I'm at a loss
