Can I use Mobil 1 10W-40 synthetic oil in my Suzuki 300 AP outboard?

there has been previous discussions on this subject. that go both ways.
from what I can determine -
auto oil has been designed for engines that run at a higher temperature
Outboard oil is formulated specifically for outboards that run at significantly lower temps than autos
follow guidlines in the owners manual to avoid a future warranty problem
