I have a 2015 30hp Suzuki 4 stroke on a 11 foot rib boat, room and weight is always a issue in small boats, with that said why does the 30hp require a car size battery, I had a 1200 cc motorcycle twice the motor size and over twice the HP and it only needed 250 CCA batt, many jet skies also have small motorcycle type batteries with more HP, but the Suzuki requires a minimum of 512 CCA for the 30hp motor. [ that is a heavy car size battery ? ]
Also the 30hp fuel inject does not even need a battery to operate, can be pull started as well with no battery but than why such a large 512 CCA for the starter, I can start a diesel truck with that size.
So has anyone used a smaller CCA batt with long term success and also a AGM type as well..
