  • Suzuki 140 gauge question

I finally got my fuel tanks to read correctly after the service tech came out and reconfigured them. I was so happy that I forgot to tell him that my fuel flow readings were way off. So my question how to reprogram my fuel flow to be synced with everything else. Engine rpms, tilt, fuel tanks, all readings work.

More info required please, we can most likely sort this for you but need the following info:

    1. What gauges do you have? SMIS? How many?

    2. When were the gauges and engine interface cables bought and installed?

    3. What year is your engine built? Is it the new A series?

    4. When you say fuel readings are way out, is it, like 10 -20% out, or are we talking a factor of 5 or 10'times wrong?

      gauge synchronizing

Hi moonlighter; I read some earlier posts from you and I have completely reprogramed my gauges. Everything works. " But With this exception."
I have two gauges and when I put them on scroll two of the four readings come up together but the other two don't. Is there a easy way to synchronize them, or do I have to delete and start over.
You are the man, thanks again for your detailed reply's

I am assuming you have 2 SMIS gauges, OK? And one engine?? Please confirm, as my crystal ball is out of action at the moment!

What are the 4 "readings" you are referring to? I can't see your gauges so you need to be much more specific with your details about what you are seeing on the gauges, and exactly what they are saying.

The SMIS displays can be customised multiple ways to show the same data on several pages, so don't assume that what you see on your page is the same as what others see on theirs.

The SMIS displays can show fuel flow, fuel remaining and fuel used, and can also show a fuel gauge - all of which is sourced from the engine interface. So, which of these readings are you talking about?

They can also show fuel level if you have a EP 60 tank level sensor connected to the fuel tank sender units. That can cause confusion and could be a source of the differences on your gauges.

I will say that the displays, if the network only has one engine connected, will show the same readings for fuel flow and should also show the same fuel used/remaining figures because both are derived from the fuel flow data.

But the best way to see why the same measure (eg fuel remaining) is different between one display and the other is to go into data sources and check that the same data source is selected for that item in each display.

The only other reason I can think of for a single engine network showing different fuel used results on 2 separate SMIS displays might be different software versions on each gauges causing issues. So check the gauge SW version on each gauge and see what it says - if they were both bought and installed at the same time it's likely that they have same SW version, but you never know for sure unless you check.

I have two gauges and two engines. Like I said everything is programed the way I want them. My question is when I put the gauges into lets say 5 sec. rotation, the same displays on each gauge is not synced with the other. Also thinking of getting the troll switch as a add on feature. Is there any thing I should know before purchasing? Is this a plug and play?

Ok, well, there's nothing I'm aware of that you can do to sync the rotation of the gauges between pages. I've actually never even heard of anyone doing that - surely it would drive you nuts with the displays constantly changing pages?

The boats I've been in with those SMIS displays just set up a custom page with the key info they want on it and leave it there. If other info is required they just switch pages with the press of a button.

Anyway, the only sync setting I'm aware of somewhere in there is to sync the display backlight though, I can't remember where it is but you should be able to find it in the menu, probably network menu. maybe if you sync that it might also sync the rotation..... Worth a try anyway.

Can't comment on the troll switch though, maybe someone else can assist with that.

Moonlighter the only way to sync. the two gauges was to delete one gauge page at a time and then bring up the second gauge and reinstall that page. I now have them scrolling at 5 sec intervals, working great.

fuel flow and fuel eco. not reading correctly

Still having two different readings on my fuel flow, fuel eco. My two 80 gal. fuel tanks were topped off and are going down equally. That's what doesn't make sense, as one gauge says its using 3 times the fuel. One gauge was replaced and the service tech had to update the software form 2.4 to 2.6.

I suspect you now have a conflict between the gauge software and the Suzuki interface software. You will have to get either the interface software updated to the current version, or the gauge software downgraded to earlier version.

But first - check the engine config in the gauge that's reading high, make sure it is correct.
