  • DF60AV Service

    Hi Guys

I would like to know what needs to be done on the 100 hour service on the suzuki 2014 DF60AV, i have asked a couple of dealers for quotes and they all come up with different items that need replacing.

    Many Thanks

there are a few things that need checking but replacing??
other than an oil change and oil filter?
I forget off the top of my head whether the valves are looked at now or at 200 hours..

you should get the full service manual book specific to your engine..
it has a full list of when and what things should be checked/replaced.

Your owners manual has the maintenance items listed for each scheduled service. For the DF150/175, the only things replaced are engine and gear case oils. Engine oil filter replacement not called for but every 200 hours, though I would prefer to replace it at every oil change. Fuel lines and low pressure fuel filter replaced at 2 years, regardless of hours.

The manual of course lists a lot of things to "inspect and if necessary adjust or replace".

The thing is, that some things are wise to replace anyway, depending to some extent on local conditions and how the motor has been used.

For instance, some people (and I admit to being one of them) would routinely do a water pump kit every 12 months/100hrs. (A) Because it's such an important item firstly, and (B) by the time you've dropped the leg and taken it apart to check the impeller and housing, in my view you might as well at least put a new impeller in there and a new kit is not much more. This is especially the case if you're running in shallow areas and have likely dredged a few new channels through a sandbar or three

Same for oil filters - I always change the oil and filters every 100 hrs.

Oil for librication and water for cooling are the lifeblood of every engine IMO and shouldn't be skimped on.

Other things, like the anodes, are definitely a check and clean up and put back in exercise. They don't need to be replaced unless they are eaten half away.

Fuel filters - well, you should definitely have a RACOR style water separating fuel filter in your fuel line between tank and engine. You HAVE got one of them, right? If so, it's a good idea to replace that element every year/100 hrs. Then, the engine fuel filters won't need replacing for many years.

You could ask about why such items are included and question if they are only listed "in case" they need replacing. A good service tech will offer or at least be happy to keep and return to you any such items replaced, so you can see that their condition justified replacement.

Once you find a good, trustworthy service technician, build a big fence around them and never let them escape! Such a service tech is G O L D and should be kept and nurtured.

Plan B is to learn how to do the servicing yourself. Suzuki now sells full service kits for most of their 4 stroke range that includes all the parts likely to be needed for a 100hr etc service. Good value and you get to keep any spares not used for later use.

Anyone have a link to the owners manual of the 2014-15 DF60AV? Thanks so much for your time!
