I have owned multiple boats and engines for about 20 year and am New to Suzuki (and this forum). I am finding that the service in my area is subpar. Any help would be appreciated. I have just over 115 hours on a 2015 300 that was delivered in February. It has been in the shop three times other than the 100 hour service. Unfortunately, my issues have not been resolved. It starts with the digital fuel gauge. It doesn't seem to be accurate. Every time I turn it on it reads different levels. For a time, it fluctuated around 65-75 gallons even after burning what I am guessing is 20-30 gallons (tank is 91 gallons). I tested the sending unit and it is fine. They have told me that they could not find the issue and so they reprogramed the gauge. Still not working correctly. It read 65 gals remaining and I was able to add 65 gallons to the tank. I am a basic kind of guy but the math does not add up. I met a guy at the sandbar and started asking him. He had the same issues. The same mechanic told him to install an analog gauge in the console. Not the answer I was looking for on a brand new engine. My second issue is the 3-6 code. After doing some research, I am guessing I should replace the O2 sensor. If this has been an issue for a while, why would they not update this problem on their new engines? My third issue is my RPM gauge will sometimes fluctuate by about 300-400 RPMs. It does not happen all the time. It does not matter if I am idling or cruising. I was running for about an hour an half (4100 RPMs) and I started feeling the boat go faster then slower. The fluctuating was occurring pretty frequently. Enough to feel it every time it was happening. I decided to film it with my phone as evidence because the "shop" could not recreate the problem. After showing it to them, they told me that they were too busy. I have called back three times and they stopped calling me back. This is a boat that I bought to cross to the Bahamas but I have little confidence in this new motor and gauges. I will be trying a new shop (only three within a 150 mile radius of my house) but I thought I would ask the forum for some thoughts before I bring it in.

You need to take it to a dealer who knows what they are doing.
Firstly, the digital gauges, depending on which ones you have, need to be set up right with the right software on both the engine interface and the gauge itself otherwise they won't work properly and won't give correct fuel data, amongst other things.
Some dealers seem quite ignorant about this, but to be honest, if they talk to their regional Suzuki technical rep they should get the assistance they need to get your situation sorted out for you.
Same applies to the oxygen sensor issue.
Where are you located? One of the members here night be able to suggest a good dealer near you, there are a couple who are very knowledgeable about the digital gauges and software - International Marine, Outboard Specialties and Brownspoint Marine are three of the best, but I have no idea if they are anywhere near you.Last edited by Moonlighter; 10-08-2015, 03:27 AM.

Is it only Suzuki?
I am also new with Suzuki and have experied some problems with my DF100A 2014. So I wonder; is it only Suzuki who has all that problems or is it other types to? (Yamaha, Mercury, Honda etc).
One problem still is that SMIS is going into a constant reboot after engine start. I have to cold-start SMIS and do the settings AGAIN.... over and over....
When everything is running the engine/SMIS is perfect!
Perhaps a new Yamaha will solve this problem...?

If that doesn't work, go back to your dealer because it will be a problem with either the SMIS or the engine interface.
This should not be a big deal to sort out for your local dealer. Most likely, if the power options I've suggested above don't work, then it is going to be software and that can and should be able to be sorted!
And while you're there, ask them to check that the ECU recall has been done for your motor too.
But hey, if you want to ditch an otherwise perfectly good motor because a fairly minor issue is bugging you, go right ahead!Last edited by Moonlighter; 10-08-2015, 03:28 AM.

Thank you moonlighter. I was told the Suzuki rep was contacted and helped with the reboot. I was also told by the manufacturer of the boat that the mechanic I brought it to was one of the better ones in the state. I live in Jacksonville. Florida.
Any thoughts on the rpm gauge fluctuating?

Also, the mechanic might well be a good mechanic, but for many of them, the SMIS and new C10 digital NMEA2000 engine data displays are a total mystery!
I suspect that many of them haven't done the factory training on them, or they simply haven't had enough exposure to them to really understand what they are dealing with. And to be honest, there are some, shall we say, idiosyncratic aspects of these displays that you need to be "in the know" about, otherwise you can pull your hair out!
So some details about exactly what you've got will help us try to help you.
For what it's worth, it you have the Suzuki SMIS digital engine data display, and if you are saying that the tacho readings are all over the place, well I've never seen that happen.
If you're looking at the digital display of the tacho readings, then it will naturally be more sensitive than an analogue tacho so it might idle say at 650 and might then change back and forward to 660/640 here and there, if that's what it's doing it's pretty normal and not to worry.
I think Mike from International Marine down at Boynton Beach possibly has a truck run up towards your area every week or so - give him a call 1-561-396-2264 and he can probably help you out - possibly can talk you through it easier than we can via the net, or get one of his team to look at it for you next time they are in the area.Last edited by Moonlighter; 10-08-2015, 10:11 PM.
