Not sure if this has been addressed, I seem unable to use the search feature on the forum right now so I don't know (keep getting token missing error when I search).
Anyway I have a 2011 df150 with 525 hrs on it. Recently the motor has begun to fall off trim while under way but only under 2 circumstances:
1) when I apply power to the prop over about 4500RPM or so pushes the motor down
2) when coming off plane, the back rush of water pushing on the motor forces it down
At least that's what I can tell from my tests. If I trim up at lower speeds it doesn't seem to fall. When I tilt the engine up at the end of the day so the forklift can take me to the dry stack, the engine remains raised next time I come to use the boat. At least, it has so far.
Anyone have a similar experience? My regular shop is thinking this may be internal to the system and a very costly repair. I can only imagine. I just wanted to check in with others, someone else must have had this issue. I've seen motors with leaky PTT, the engine just falls slowly over time. Not the case. It seems POWER to the prop is what forces the motor down. Like the hydraulic system is no longer strong enough to resist the force of the engine moving forward.
I may end up wishing I had taken the 3 year extended warranty rather than the $1000.
