DF30 problem

Hope this is the right place to post for problem solving. My DF30 has done about 20 hrs so is due for first service. On last outing at noticed the centre red LED flashing (think three flashes) and now the motor will start and run fine at reduced revs but when you attempt to open the throttle it momentarily surges and then shuts back down to idle..with a puff of smoke from exhaust.
Is this being deliberately limited with an engine issue..? I know I need to take it in and will do but would like to understand what is happening a little first.

I don't think the best place to find answers to your problem is on a forum. The fact that the engine is going into a protection mode indicates a significant problem that requires prompt, professional attention from your dealer. Under these circumstances you don't want to start trying to fix it yourself or you could be putting your warranty at risk.

Given that you said, the motor is nearly new and under warranty, the best course is to immediately notify your dealer and take it back to them and have them fix the problem at no cost to you at the same time as they do the 20 hour service. They will put it onto their diagnostic system and be able to figure it out quickly and efficiently, and get it sorted for you.

Maybe too late to respond, but I will point out that when my DF25 hit 20 hrs, the light started blinking constantly but there was no effect on performance. I finished the day with the light blinking and changed the oil a couple days later.
