  • DT85 will not start when hot

my 1985 DT85 starts on the second to third try when cold, but when warmed up it will not start. Noticed small amount of fuel dripping out the front of the carbs, and I tested the spark and got a dull glow from the tester, not a bright light. Any Ideas what it could be...

You should check compression on all cylinders first. Then if gas is dripping from carbs in front, then carbs may need to be cleaned and floats adjusted, but take pics of linkages, and hoses before removing. Also, record what the settings are for each idle air mixture screw before removal for cleaning. Do not mix up parts for carbs, in some older carbs they used slightly different size jets between carbs, to balance carbs.

It sounds like a fuel problem, but knowing what compression your cylinders have will let is know it is not compression related.

Good luck, let us know how it works out.
