Throwing code 4-2 crank position sensor engine don't have one? It has a cam sensor and a ignition pickup coil both has been replaced,Flywheel key not sheared, checked cam timing with flywheel seems to be dead on. I had it hooked to diagnostic computer and timeing is stuck at 5 deg btdc. I checked all the sensor wires back to the ECU all good.Is the 1300.00 dollar black box bad? Whos got dynamite?Engine is marked Johnson late 2002 witch is a late year witch makes it a 2003 J50pl4st 08/2002 it is a Suzuki though. When I replaced the cam sensor code light went out for one short run then back on the next crank. all fuel has been replaced drained vaperizor no water.Took it fishing about a month ago every thing was fine put it in about two weeks ago and beeeep you aint going fishing!!!!Help. If you take the ignition pickup coil away form the fly wheel there is no change.Unplug the cam sensor engine dies. running on all cylinders too? runs smooth just no power no advance.

That is your crank sensor, the reason the timing is fixed at five degree's because it is in fail safe mode, and it uses the camshaft information to trigger the injectors. This is why the engine stops when you remove the plug. On the bottom of the flywheel there are 34 reluctor bars spaced at 10 degree intervals and one spaced at 20 degree's. As the flywheel spins a voltage is induced in the crank sensor and the ecu counts them, make sure they are clean with no damage, the gap between the sensor and bars should be .75 of a mm. Disconnect the ecu and check the wiring from the sensor to the ecu, and make sure it is not open, or going to ground.

The only thing I havent checked is to see if wireing is going to ground but you can remove the induction coil from the flywheel leaving it pluged in and it runs with no difference. But continuity on wiring is good i replaced the induction coil and cam sensor/crank
