  • Driveshaft gear removal DF150

Is there a trick to getting the gear off the end of the driveshaft in the lower unit? The nut is off and the shaft is loose where it goes into the lower unit at the top. Is the gear glued or taper locked on?

Did you remove the bearing cap assy, usually under the water pump assy?
it might help to look at the parts diagram for your unit too.

    Good luck.

Bearing cap is off. Service manual says it should come out. Tried using a jack under the shaft made from a nut ,bolt and socket, still did not break loose.

It did have a taperlock. Moderate heat with a hand held torch got it loose.
