I bought a "new-in-the-box" 9.9 in March that currently has about 25 hours on it. It has been nothing but trouble so far. It gave off the most annoying dry squeal noises right off the bat. The dealer has tried 3 different props on it and it has finally minimized the noise but it still shows up from time to time. At about 12 hours on the motor I noticed a lot of engine oil showing on the outside surfaces of the motor. The dealer determined that it had bad crankshaft seals. they took the motor apart, removed the crankshaft and replaced both seals. After that I used it for about 15 hours of trolling I am disappointed in how much the motor shakes at higher rpms and again noticed oil dripping from the casing and showing on most exposed surfaces. I contacted the dealer and they have offered me a new motor in exchange. Either another Suzuki or a Yamaha. I am torn. Never owning a Suzuki before I am a bit nervous about trying another. Any thoughts on this?

STARTING OVER as first time I replied it was to another post
since no one else has made any comments:
take it back to dealer
exchange it.. ask.. if it was his money, knowing attributes of both motors and having an idea on how you intend to use this motor..
"which one would you buy" where would he put his money..
then listen
now having said that.. unless they change the instructions what did they tell you about a break-in period for the motor?
there is, at least for the large HP motors, a extremely important 10 hour break-in process.. make sure to ask then follow the directions
