johnson/Suzuki 140 4 stroke....

Hey guys I have a 2004 johnson 4 stroke that Suzuki made for johnson back in 04.... the problem is the motor has some kind of tapping/knocking going on when it's running everything else runs good starts right up don't stall or nothing...but at idle and when it runs real loud tapping noise... almost sound like it under the value cover??? Please help me if u have a idea what it could be....

Has this been happening for a long time? Just started?

Have you had valves adjusted? Recently? Might be something to have done, and ask the tech / mechanic what he thinks?

No haven't had that done... It almost sounds like a hydraulic lifter?? If that makes sense ... Had it out the other day it will still run w.o.t around 6k rpm

They haven't got hydraulic lifters, running an engine at 6000rpm with a knock in it isn't very smart.

Yea didn't here the tapping Intill we got back in and flush the motors... We check all the compression all was pretty good.. I hope it's nothing major ....
