DF175 up trim limit switch corroded wire?

I have been milking out a problem on my DF175 for a couple years now. The up trim will intermittently stop working. I can get it to start working by wiggling what I believe is the ground wire to the up limit trim switch. I was told this was a known problem on Suzuki's? I was told to jumper the limit switch.....does this sound ok? Is there a better permanent fix?

Well, on my boat, I wouldn't consider that a solution, since without the limit switch adjusted, I'd have to watch every time I lifted the motor, as it would otherwise hit the board in front of my splashwell. So whether that would be a problem for you, only you can decide. I have not personally heard of that being a "known problem." I would find out what the problem really is and fix the problem in such a way that it would work as designed. But that's just me.

It is far more likely to be the up trim relay that is playing up rather than the trim limit switch.

Well when I originally encountered the problem I changed out the power trim relay pack and it didn't fix the problem. I had the motor at a Suzuki service center for other work just the other day. They couldn't trim the motor up so I had to stop over and show them how to get it going. At the top of the engine mount between the mount and forward side of engine cowl where the up limit switch is located is a wire going to the limit switch. I press the trim switch to trim up and hold, then reach in and wiggle the wire and the trim works. It will work fine when I use run the motor often, it's just when It sits for a while that it acts up. I have talked with a few suzuki owners that had the same issue. I was mainly checking to see if others here had the same problem and what a good fix was for it.
