Suzuki DT40

Hi there,

Just after some general advice please. Had a small 4 stroke before so still learning..

Recently purchased a DT40 (2008) model, 2 cylinder, 2 stroke tiller steer.

Motor is a real bugger to start cold. Is this normal? Sometimes it "back fires".

Engine smokes a lot when idling - Is the fuel oil 50:1 ratio right?

Somtimes when idling it just doesn't sound smooth. Should it be?

I wasn't even aware they made the 2 strokes after about 2001, or 2002?
Guess I need to do a little more research.

You should pickup an owners manual, and service manual for your motor.

Idle should be smooth, smoking and back-firing do not sound normal.

Is motor carbureted, or fuel injected?
Do you pre-mix your fuel?

As I said, 2008 dt, is a new one to me.
What is your model/ serial number for your motor?
