  • 2005 DF140 Throttle Body

Anyone ever attempt to clean the throttle body and Idle speed? Having some idle issues and a mechanic told me I may need to clean the throttle body.

    Thanks

What kind of issues are you having. You only need to buy a can of throttle body spray for a quick clean

Runs excellent at any speed but 75% of the time when you slow and put in nuetral it stalls and wont start unless you idle up with remote.

more than likely its the IAC... Idle Air Control valve, spraying anything anywhere is unlikely to fix it.

            Iac

IAC ! I picked a used one from a auto dismantler, 2.0 liter Suzuki Sierra i think
Do an advance search here on IAC and you should find some info

Took the Throttle bodies off both engines and they were filthy!! Cleaned them using throttle body cleaner I picked up at a local auto parts store. Removed the IAC's from both engines and cleaned the same way. Reinstalled them and problem solved. The IAC's were not as oily as the TB's but looked a little corroded or rusty. I believe my idle issues will be back. Will look into replacing the IAC's. Took about 3 hrs. to do both motors. I am told that it's fine to do the throttle bodies without removing them, but why send all that crud into your intake manifold!!! 4 bolts and a linkage that pops right off.

Thanks every one for the advice!!

cleaning the throttle body is useless, it achieves nothing, unless they are completely clogged up somehow. Replace the IAC as suggested.
