  • Tilt switch

I have a DF175 and the tilt switch adjust keeps altering. I have to adjust the tilt limit cam all the time . I did find a loose small looped spring under the switch but I don't know if that has any relevance. Could it be a faulty micro switch?

The limit adjustment cam should feel tight on the clamp bracket shaft, and have definite clicks that you can feel as you adjust it. In other words, there should be resistance to movement when you adjust it. Also check to see that the microswitch and switch mounting plate are screwed down tight and not moveable. I'm not sure to what you are referring with the small looped spring, but you should be able to operate the switch by depressing the small metal lever that is actuated by the cam, and hear and feel the switch clicking as you manipulate the lever. The lever itself should move freely up and down to push the button on the microswitch, but should not loose enough to wiggle much in any other direction. I'm not sure, but the switch position on most such setups is adjustable, held by two screws, and can be moved slightly within a small range to adjust the actuation by the cam.

Checked all of that and all looks O/K so can only assume that the micro switch is faulty and keeps altering so will replace that and see what happens. As far as the spring goes I don't know must have just lodged there from something else. Looks like a spring you would find in an oil seal but only about 1/2" in diameter.
