I just purchased a new DF6. I added engine, but I do know if I need to add gear oil. I called my dealer and Suzuki and neither of them know. Please help.

Suzuki called me back and told it is shipped with gear oil, but check to make sure that it is at the right level. -
Little brother of yours, my DF2.5 caused me the same head-scratching pain. Nowhere in documents it says to add gear oil.
A friend, long-time auto mechanic, has a talent for understanding any possible engine, - told me not to touch it. A video from another dealer describes all the pre-op procedures and warns to add engine oil since manufacturer supplies it almost dry (and it was), but says nothing about gear oil.
So I went ahead, put it in the barrel and run as prescribed - idle with gear ON. All is good.
Supplying a motor with no gear oil would mean replacing 2 gaskets on plugs before you even start the motor, and they don't supply spare gaskets. In other words, this would mean - they would've supplied a motor with insufficient parts to start operating it. Doesn't make sense.Comment

Well, I thought about checking the level - but this would mean a trip to far-away dealer for level gasket(s) or mail-order RIGHT NOW. So I'm glad it's over now (see previous post), and spare gaskets can wait until the end of season.Comment
