Q: How to remove this nut?

Since 2013 there is a plastic nut on the end of the shaft, with a pin through the nut. The nut looks like screwed onto the shaft, but with all my force - using wrench - I can't make it move. Tried both clockwise and counterclockwise - nothing. Is there any secret to this?

there should be no magic to this
remove the cotter pin
maybe spray with some penetrating oil and let it sit for a while
being a plastic as you describe, I would find a replacement before taking off the old one
there could be just some corrision in there
should be a standard left hand turn to remove

Thanks. Conquered it. I was afraid to damage this $30 piece of plastic by applying too much force. Gentle tapping with a mallet, then wrench again, and off it went. Darn Thais left some burr on it, maybe pressed it onto the shaft too hard. No longer "real Japanese", you know...
