my outboard engine has been sitting for years. before taking it out of water.. it was popping into gear(forward) from idling in nuetral(thats what i am told). i was also told that a mechanic had looked at it and said it was some pin that kept popping out and wouldnt stay in. do you know what that could be.........
i am currently trying to bring this old engine back to life( 1996 suzuki dt40 outboard). and currently have the lower unit/carb/fuel pump all taken off. bought kits for all of them. i would like to correct this shifting problem also before the lower unit goes back on in case it could be in the lower gear case.
