  • DF200 Trim issue

    My trim/Tilt started going up slow and now it will not raise at all. I put the motor as far as i can which is not ALL the way up as it hit the transom before reaching that point. I tried to add fluid but it will not accept it in the reservoir fill. My question is does the motor have to be raised completely up to let the fluid fill or do i have something else happening?

    Sounds like another problem, possibly corrosion on electrical parts, connectors, etc. Could have a compromised seal and allowed water into the motor, possible contamination of the hydraulic fluid with subsequent rust/corrosion of internal pump parts. No way to know without further investigation. You don't indicate the age of the motor, so hard to say whether it is due to age and deterioration, either.

      The motor is 2004 had new power head installed a2014 only have 140 hours on it since. The trim has not been redone guess i might as well remove and rebuild the system..... I have done them on Merc's before and from the breakdown Seloc has looks similar.

        My book for 150/175says full tilt position to check fluid level
        That should be the point the the reservoir would be at lowest point
        Also might check the air bleed valve
        Can we assume that the bearings the motor tilts on are well lubricated and not binding?

          no binding of the bearings. i am guessing that the motor won't take any fluid if the unit is not trimmed completely up so i will have to pull the motor to fix it while it is off i will rebuild the unit to make sure everything is good.

            I think the manual was talking about the proper level to check the fluid level
            if you can get the cap off, and just make sure it is full at the upper most level you can raise the engine to
            if it is full in that up position.. there will probably be fluid running out. If not, then i suspect the unit is really low and has sucked some air into the pump

            I would double checku using the bleed screw that the pump is full as well and does not have an air lock, before tearing it apart..
