  • Out Board Motor quit running

Suzuki Outboard DF70, 4 stroke, Year 2000. Left dock ample water from pee hole, motor ran fine. Couple hours later noticed no water coming out. Was at idle speed then I increased speed, at 3000 RPM motor stopped abruptly. Nothing when key turned. Towed in. Later when motor cooled off, get slow crank. Removed plugs can not turn flywheel, I'm not strong enough. (plugs back in) Turning key, flywheel turns 1/2 revolution, then barely grunts. Starter engages, but not turning fast enough to start. 30 amp fuze OK. I think electrical. Any suggestions/ideas? Thanks

if the plugs are out and you still can not turn it over sounds like it is seized

Hi Mitch, checked further, took starter apart, looks great, can now turn motor over using torque wrench, takes 30 ft pounds and motor turns forward/backward w plugs out, here is puzzler, volts at battery 12.6, volts at starter cables not hooked to starter 12.6, with cables connected and cranking volts drop to 8.5. motor cranks but not fast enoughto start, I'm thinking amps in battery may be insufficient or maybe I need some kind of lubricant squirted in cylinders in case valve sticking or cylinder gaulded. Think I'm going to borrow a battery to answer battery ques, lubricant not sure. Thanks for viewing my ques. Nodork.
