  • DF300 - Strange Water Cooling leakage (video)

    Please see video: https://youtu.be/1CKSGySVCLM

Is anyone able to understand where the water leakage is coming from and why?

The leakage is worst when the engine is cold and more or less goes away when the temperature increases. The engine seems to be running just fine and there is not overheating issues what so ever.

Appreciate if anyone is able to understand what could be causing the leakage.

Well, that's a strange one.....is your front flush port secure and the rubber washer intact? Mayber you should remove the cover and also check that all the internal anode holders are tight.

Here is where mine was leaking from that was caused by a defective intake manifold. It was fixed under warranty. Check this video out of my leak under the hood.

Yes, the flush port is fine and no water is coming from here. I did also remove the cover and no sign of any water. I'll take off the side cover later tonight in order to see if I can see where the water is coming from. I'll upload the video when done. Thanks for replying.

Update on my water leak. There was a nipple pressed into the intake that would not stay in. That is why the intake was replaced. There was a hose on it that direct water somewhere. I did not see i apart so I can tell exactly what it was.

Ok, I think it must be some pressure around the water pump that makes water travel up the drive shaft before it gets out. Very strange and the mechanics I have talked to have never seen this before. I have a feeling it's something related to the water pump which was replaced recently.

The engine doesn't overheat so the escaped pressure doesn't seem to create any issues. Need to get the boat out of the water, take the lower unit off and see if I can spot where the pressure escapes.....

Or could I be totally wrong here?

Could it be where the water pressure sensor for the gauge is connected?

Has the powerhead ever been of the midsection housing? Looks like it's leaking from that area.

Finally figured it out. It was a missing Exhaust Seal Plate.

Lower Unit when taken off last year (can you see the missing plate?):

Guess what, no more water leaking out the drive shaft tube!
