2005 140df

After a web search I have found this forum glad it's available
Well after my Yamaha was stolen
I purchased a used but running 2005 df140 at a reasonable price
Put it on my boat along with the used gauges but with new
Binnacle control,key switch,kill switch and wire harness

I was happy to be back on the water until the starter went bad really bad
Replaced starter

I am know having a problem
Sometimes not all mostly at the worst time
The engine will turn off as if you turned the key off or pulled the lanyard off
And when you try to re start it the sounder will not make a noise
You have to leave the key turned over one click and wait quickly or even a few minutes later I will hear the loud beep and the motor will start
As if there was no problem

Some things I have tried
Replaced fuses and relays in the area by the starter
Sanded and cleaned the prongs that the 60amp fuse goes on as I really felt
That was the problem cause the sounder beeped once I would touch it

Problem still occurs I apologize for the long post please help
Have no more $$$ for the Suzuki dealer

Sorry when I say sounder I'm talking about the loud beep that goes on when you turn the key to first click

Took the boat out again tonight while driving threw a bridge the alarm sounder
Not sure what to call it came on boat was about to die out but didn't
Made it threw but about 200 yards later alarm again and engine shut off
Waited 2 maybe 3 minutes with the key turned on click waiting for the alarm to sound and then started again fine
*** this very confusing and dangerous

Steve, can you tell us what happened to the starter? Really bad doesn't help.
Also, Art asked if any other electrical items turn off when the alarm sounds, do the gauges stay on?
Does this happen at low RPMs, or at higher RPMs?
Steve, how old is your battery? What did Suzuki dealers do, or replace on your motor? And what does your voltage gauge read when these problems occur?

Art, are there any thermal sensors that interrupt power going to the motor? Or could this be a weak/ bad connection from battery through key switch?
A rectifier-regulator overheat?

Just some thoughts.

Steve, any information you can provide, could help the forum point you to a possible problem, but you have to help us with this information.

Starter was drawing so much power when the shop took it apart for rebuild the insides where fried really bad
Bought new starter

The alarm sounds engine shuts down
Gps stays on live well is still running & nav light are still on
I'm usually looking foward but I do believe a red light comes on when the alarm sounds and engine shuts off

The key switch becomes %100 non responsive and needs to be left turned one
Click to wait for the alarm sound to beep again

Battery purchased in January

And I do Remember once that the overheat light
Blinked during cutoff
