This is a 2010 model This motor has 2 water intakes according to the book. In my owners book they tell me to put tape over the water intake on the cavitation plate intake when running with ear muffs. I have taken the lower unit apart and cannot see where this particular water intake has any use. The only one that I can tell that feeds the water pump is the lower intake. Am I missing something? Is it really necessary to cover the upper one with tape when running the motor with ear muffs ? Please help, im totally confused on the purpose of the water intake by the trim tab.
