  • Installing a new zerk on swivel bracket

I know Athens have done this to fix a stiff steering problem. Can anyone post a picture of where they installed the top zerk fitting. I have a 2005 DF140 that has a very stiff swivel bracket. I have heated and used some penetrating oil but it's not freeing up yet.

    df140, steering issues

What type of torch are you using? That could be the reason?

    Post back, let us know.

Does the propane have a turbo tip? Use propane, map is to hot. But the turbo tip turned up gives plenty of heat. Have to move torch up and down, both sides, even underneath (don't burn any wires/plastic parts there) till you see grease boiling at top seam, could take time, but it will work. Heat the whole area where the shaft is.

Post back as to how it's going.

Will do. I think adding a second zerk fitting would be better in the long run especially getting grease to come out of the top. I believe reel compromise has done this with good results.
