can I still use the tohatsu tach and ifso what should the pulse setting be for suzuki?

Did you not get the harness and gauges that go with your motor? Should get those that go with it for the monitoring and diagnostics.

Is this a used motor?

Jack, Solarman is right.

These new EFI Suzuki 4 strokes have a integrated warning and error code system, and it needs one of the specific Suzuki tacho's with the built in warning lights to read it, along with the right wiring harness.

So really, you are best to get one of them.
