  • Help motor does not start

Can someone please help? My 2008 175hp suzuki will not crank. I just finished servicing it which I do every year. I changed the oil,oil filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, lower unit oil, the sacrificial anodes (5) that are on the injectors (?). This is the first time I changed those anodes. I went to crank her up and it doesn't crank. It makes a hissing sound for a couple of seconds then nothing. It makes the same sound every time I try to crank. My throttle is in the neutral position. The tach then flashes the check engine light 4 times then 2 times. I checked all the fuses in the engine holder and they appear to be ok. Any ideas? Thank you

There is a grease fitting by the throttle or shifting cables that I had greased. I wiped off some grease and now motor cranks. How could this have caused it?

the hissing is proably ther high pressure fuel pump charging up
the one thing off the top is the shift cable is possily in need of a small adjustment or the shift lever, even though it appears to be in netural, it is off just a fraction.. by cleaning it you may have tweaked it just enough to make it work..
if it happens again.. use the shift lever to recenter itself.. that may solve the starting problem

What art meant to say, when you greased the cable you accidently opened the neutral switch contacts, therefore the engine wont crank when you turn the key to start.

LOL Thank you for the replies. I'm glad it was something simple. Didn't know I could do that.
