dt30, what year by serial number
I can only tell you it's earlier than 2013. if I go by the serial number you gave me, I can only find a listing that closely matches your serial number in 1993. According to the serial number that I can find.
Best bet to know for sure is to call a dealer. The two stroke motor lines stopped around 2000 - 2005, if I recall correctly?
Good luck, someone else here might be able to tell you for sure.Last edited by Solarman; 02-22-2015, 05:40 AM.

Your motor appears to be a 1992, dt30
What is throwing me off is the first 5 numbers, 03005 no listings shown?
Serial numbers for dt30's
03003-231001 to 03003-351000 were manufactured in 1992.
I don't see any listings up to 1997 that show 03005. Please check the ”5”, if actually a 3, then it is a 1992.
The 1993 dt30's starting serial numbers were 03003-351001.
good luck, post back what you find out.thnx.

Well I have to respectfully disagree with that analysis
http://Www.suzukimarineparts.net/spo...rialnumber.pdf
This is the best explanation of how to decipher serial numbers
The 03005. The -5- could be wrong the explanation is -1- is a mixed fuel. -2- would be oil injection
Next 6 digits -1st number is the last digit of the model year
3. Is either '83 or '93
The 2nd digit delineates '80's or '90's from the chart
The 3xxxxx are 80's
The 35xxxx are 90's
The model year number 231xxx to 351xxx do not run from one year into the next

Art, I think you are right, the first digit indicates 1993. Though I don't believe an 83. I did think 93 in the beginning, but the 005, & the second digit of serial number (314595) tends to confuse the issue. I also think the 5 is a mistake, it must be a 3.
But when I looked at Browns Point Marine for identity of serial numbers it stated that the beginning serial numbers for 93 were 351001.
I guess I did jump to the wrong conclusion there thinking it must have run consecutively throughout the years.
I thought it may have been made in 93, but a late model 92 motor? Ha ha
Heck maybe the whole serial plate is in error, the 5, should be 3, and instead of 314xxx maybe it should be 354xxx.
But he should give us the model number as well.
Thnx for correcting me Art.

no problems ..
when I started looking at the one chart that gave all the various HP models, the serial numbers all start with the same 6 digits for a model year
ie. '93's all started with 351001
with their '83 numbering system you might think this guys motor might be #14,495 they biult for the year..
They could have made it a little more confusing if they tried a bit harder!!!
and now since they run that sequence to the max up to 2009, they started over with another system -that I have spent no time, yet, trying to figure out..
we are all here for the same reason.. to help fellow owners try to solve problems/questions
however, this one must be a pretty pristine motor to think it is only a year or two old..

Found this on iBoats link. It might help too. Formatting didn't come thru when I copied and pasted but it is reasonably straightforward to work out.
But you need the model number code from the ID plate, not the serial number.
I have tidied it up a bit and continued the model year sequence code in a logical fashion up to 2014.
The sequence of the model number is as follows:
Model Description ; HP ; Model Variation ; Length ; Year
Example: DF140TXL2 would be:
4 stroke; 140hp; remote elect start &PTT; 25" shaft,; 2012 model.
Model Description code:
DT = 2 stroke
DF = 4-Stroke
PU = Jet Drive
Model Variations:
C = Oil injection
E = Electric Start, Tiller Control
G = Counter Rotation
H = Power Trim & Tilt w/ Elect. Start w/Tiller Handle
M = Manual Start, Tiller Control
N = High thrust or sail model available in 8 and 9.9 hp
QH = Tiller Control with gas assisted tilt (some DF25/30/40/50)
R = Remote Control, Electric start
S = High performance 150 HP with EFI (designed for bass boats)
SF = Super Four
SS = Super six (150 HP only) with PTT, oil injection, remote control / Super Sport for DF250
T= Trim & tilt, Remote Control, Electric Start (tilt only with remote & electric on DT40TC prior to 1994)
TH = Tiller Control with PTT (some DT55/65, DF60/70)
V = 200 HP Exante model with Comlink, PTT, oil injection, remote control
Z = Counter Rotation
Shaft Length:
S = 15"
L = 20"
X = 25"
XX = 30"
Note: G or Z after the length indicates counter rotation
Model Year:
D = 1983
E = 1984
F = 1985
G = 1986
H = 1987
J = 1988
K = 1989
L = 1990
M = 1991
N = 1992
P = 1993
R = 1994
S = 1995
T = 1996
V = 1997
W = 1998
X = 1999
Y = 2000
K1 = 2001
K2 = 2002
K3 = 2003
K4 = 2004
K5 = 2005
K6 = 2006
K7 = 2007
K8 = 2008
K9 = 2009
L0 = 2010
L1 = 2011
L2= 2012
L3= 2013
L4= 2014
Another Example Model: DT40CRSN
DT40 CRSN is a
