The motor has always had the check engine alarm go off while in reverse over 1500 RPM. I thought that just what it was set with. Now, It sounds when the engine is put into reverse. At a complete idel (650 RPM) it takes about 30 sec to 1 min to go off. If you throttle it up at all, 800 RPM, it goes off until you take out of reverse. What are your thoughts?

Two thoughts. 1 impeller but motor is not that old. How many hours?
2nd thought is motor mounted at correct depth?
If while running in reverse it might be blowing air bubbles past water intake. It just might not getting enough water to pump through, and/or water maybe cavitating inside the pump
Do you have your motor connected with interface cable to a chart plotter?

I would not suspect the impeller or height, I have the DF300apxx, it takes a bit to raise the temp (2-3 minutes) from 120s to 170s where the overheat alarm will activate at idle, and by the way rule it out with engine temp display, it's probably one of your sensors in relation to the travel of the throttle/shift settings, if it's fly by wire its needs to be checked at dealer with the computer, travel limits! If it's cable then maybe check it yourself for proper settings, also, 2014? Still under warranty! Make them fix it!

I agree with bamahemi on every count. There is no way for you or any one of us to know why your check engine light is on without an accompanying code. I'd suspect an adjustment of cables, neutral switch, or something needing adjustment with a fly-by-wire system, rather than any sensors. And as bama said, what ever the problem, don't screw up your warranty by doing something stupid. If anyone's going to do something stupid, let it be the dealer.Last edited by Harper; 02-07-2015, 12:49 PM.Mike
