Boy have I got an off the wall issue.

Last summer, my 2002 115 (4 st) tossed #3 rod out the side of the block.

I lucked into a later model 140 power head. It had the wiring harness, but no ECU. When I installed the 140 head, I used the 2002 115 harness. Other then the connection to the crank sensor it plugged right up.

NOW THE ISSUE: I have the 2002 115 ECU, but have been told it will not correctly run the 140. Is this a true statement?

I don't want to run it lean (which common sense says would likely happen) and fry a good power head.

go to the parts page at the top of this forum
look up your motor year model
find the ECU .. the written title for that part is underlined
I think I found it under line reading - PTT engine control
click on that description.. will take you to the next page that tells you every motor, year & model, that the part will work on.
when I just looked for you, the 115 part is not compatible to the 140 and vice versa.. your 115 works on 90's and 115's but does not show for any of the 140's
