  • 2015 25 hp problem

Hi - new member here - Can anyone recommend a suzuki service center near New Smyrna Beach? My new 2015 25hp is giving me problems with only 5-6 hrs on it. Just looking for a competent service center - i hate taking a new motor in to somewhere i don't know.

Here is a vid of what the motor is doing if anyone has seen this before - the motor pulsates when i throttle up - id prefer to not take it in for service if at all possible -

    Thanks!

Your best bet is to google Suzuki outboard dealers and put your present area zip code at the end. It should list those near your area.
Also, if motor is new (5 - 6 hrs), it is best to have warranty fix your problem. Am thinking if pulsating, as said (can't download vid now) it sounds electrical, if rapid pulses. If slow pulses then maybe fuel related. Am guessing it is 4 stroke.
You might call those near you, and tell them the problem. They may ask you to check a few things before bringing in. you'll have decide which seems most interested in your problem, and if able to fix under warranty, within your time concerns?
Let us know what they find. Good luck.

Thanks - I am being told that it is the rev limiter kicking in because its in neutral - maybe that's the case and there isn't an issue with the motor?

The neutral throttle rev limite kicks in at about 3000rpm. In the video, that motor doesn't sound like it is hitting 3000rpm to me. So doesn't really sound right.

Does it do the same thing when it is running in gear in the water?

If it does, take it to a dealer and get it checked.

Even if it doesn't do it when it is in gear, it's possible that the Neutral throttle switch on the engine might be out of alignment, and cutting in too soon. If you get a full service manual, it should show correct adjustment. But as others have said, it's a new motor, warranty applies and it is best to get these things looked at by an authorised dealer in those circumstances.

A guy in another forum says the neutral rev limiter kicks in around 2500 rpm and it sounds normal to him but he has a 20 hp. I'll check it out this weekend and let you know whats going on with it - i also have a tiny tach so i will see what the rpms are as well. Hopefully this will help anyone else who gets one of the new df25's.

Thanks for your help - appreciate it!
