I have a 2002 model DT225 that has burned the lower piston on the port side. I pulled the head today and it looks like I may be able to get away with replacing the piston and rings on that side. My concern is what may have caused that piston to burn. Since it is fuel injected I am thinking maybe I have a bad injector. Any suggestions on what I should look for?

dt225, 02, burned piston
If burned piston, I'd say that cylinders is running too lean. Either too much air (problem with reed valves) for that cylinder, or restriction of fuel (injector partially blocked). I'm thinking the latter the more likely. Those are my thoughts.
Good luck, don't forget to break in the new rings properly.
