Suzuki df 70 ignition

I have a suzuki df 70 2000. Used to start up every time. When turn key to on position there is no power to the gauges and does no make start up beep. Trim and tilt work. Sometimes the engine will turn over but will only keep running if you hold starter down. Once starter is released the engine dies.

Think I would start by removing and cleaning (wire brushing) each of your terminals at the battery, and check each terminal end for corrosion where the wire goes into the terminal. Also check any fuses, and their connectors on any of those wires near/ at the battery. Do ths and let us know if you find anything there.

All connections looks good. I messed around with it a little bit and the beep and start up lights will come on if you turn the key halfway to on. The engine still will only run if starter is held down. I'm thinking new ignition?

And forgot to mention that the engine will only turn over if the key is held halfway to start.

Sounds like a good possibility. I would replace the switch too.
