  • Df90 Oil pressure warning

    Hi,
I got a problem with one of my DF90, which i purchased just 4 month ago.
It has done about 80 hours.
The other has done 100h and seems perfectly ok.
When I start the engine the warning light for oil pressure goes on.
I can run the engine for about 3 minutes, than it reduces down to 1000rpm by itself, so there seems to be a serious problem.
I have changed the oil (I use SAE20/50 since I am in warm Rwanda,) and oil filter and checked the level of oil which is just below maximum.
During operation there are no warning beeps.
One more info: Lake Kivu is on 5000feet altitude.
Would be grateful for help. Their is no Suzuki Dealer in Rwanda and I need good advice to direct my mechanic, if he is required.
    Thanks

    df90 oil pressure warning

Could try swapping oil pressure sensors, this might tell you if you need a new sensor, or if the first motor has a pressure problem?
    If motors are the same?

      Motors are identical.
      I will do that asap.
      Excellent idea, thanks a lot.
I"ll keep you updated, of the result.

        df90, oil pressure warning

If the first motor still sets the alarm off, then problem could be more serious. If it still has a warrantee, then you may need to take it to a dealer.

Going today to the lake to do the swap of the sensors.
Could there be a problem with the main wiring harness?
I had to get those extended, used top quality cables and a good electrician, but who knows.
I will do a swap of the cables as well.
If the problem remains, well I have to do as you say - back to the dealer, but this means crossing the border from Rwanda to Tanzania with all the paper work - a nightmare.

            swapping oil pressure switch/ sensor

The motor was running for 80 hours. I think swapping the oil pressure switch sensor will tell you what you need to know. Am not certain, however, of the warning still is there on the motor then you might try the harness. But if still there after the harness, then the dealer will be needed.
I'm thinking it may be just the sensor is bad.

              Engine is ok

              Good news.
              The engine is ok.
My technician tried to swap the harness and discovered that the fuel supply hose was somehow bend, which obviously reduced the fuel flow to the engine.
After he straightened the hose the oil pressure warning disappeared.
I did a test for 30 Minutes without any problem.
Well my technician caused the problem when he installed longer control cables.
He will be more careful next time.

Thanks again very very much for your advice.
