  • can lowest rpm be adjusted?

Have a new 2013 300 and would like to slow troll for kingfish. Lowest rpm when in gear is 650. Can this be lowered at all? I do have troll mode switch but will only go up from 650.

I believe the answer is no. Controlled by the ECU and not user adjustable.

If you were to try and adjust the opening of the throttle valve, you would be unsuccessful, since the throttle valve is essentially closed already. The small adjustment screw is adjusted just enough to keep the butterfly from binding in the throat. As Moonlighter indicated, the ECM controls the idle RPM via the idle air control, a valve that bypasses the throttle plate at idle. A maladjusted throttle valve can result in a high, and possibly rough idle, but you can't lower the RPMs. Nor would you want to. To do so might result inadequate oil pressure, fouled plugs, and all sorts of problems reducing the life of the motor.

        adjusting idle?

no, do not mess with the idle, it will screw up your motor.

I've never trolled lower than 1600 RPMs (ocean fishing).

Buy a trolling motor, and put the gas motor in neutral, or turn off your main motor, if in a lake.

I slow troll live scad for mackerel. Dead slow, at idle speed, with my DF115.

It is slow enough for my requirements, but I have some friends running 250's or 300's who simply tow a bucket or two behind the boat if they want to slow the troll speed even further. Works a treat!
