This is my second purchase as my other motor was 2007 300 which ran perfect. My new white engine stumbles from 1400 to 1700 rpm and I notice when it is stumbling my fuel flow is increasing while it runs rough. It smoothens out at 1700. At the 1400 rpm mark I can move my throttle forward and back about 1/4 inch and there will be no rpm change. At 2800 rpm if you keep the throttle at this spot the engine will slowly increase rpms to 3700 w/o touching the throttle. Finally setup my multi use gauges in a scrolling mode to show rpm, temp, and volts. When I shut engine off and restart all of the modes are erased and it directs me to go to setup mode. Dealer came out put laptop on engine and all readings were within spec as he watched the engine do its thing. $20,000 and no one knows what is wrong. Very unhappy

I understand your frustration, not that that helps. But the only advice I can offer in your instance is persistence, persistence, persistence. If the dealer can't solve go up a step. Somebody owes you a good motor. Does your state have lemon laws? Don't let up. Keep us advised on your situation.Last edited by Harper2; 09-04-2014, 03:23 PM.Mike

I try to present my problems as best as possible to my dealer. For example I will take a video when I am describing my issues which I find is extremely helpful in explaining a problem. When my gauges went out and I was prompted to reset the gauges I took a video as well in the hopes the dealer will forward, which he said he did , to the mfr. Supposedly mfr knows of gauge problems and is putting together a software upgrade as this is a common problem. No answer on the speed variation issue. And no lemon law in Fl that I am aware of for outboards.

I feel you pain, I also have the same white 2014 DF300, nothing but electrical problems. I have it since May, the Suzuki Rep. Was on my boat 2 days along with my dealer, They have changed the ECM, the engine wiring harness, and now the engine interface, behind the dash. the gauges work now however I now am having RPM issues. Some of the gauge issues were that the harness from the engine to the dash is a set up for 2 engines. They are now working with the electrical engineer of Proline to see if they can find answers. It seems to me that the Suzuki people are having a difficult time with all the sensors on this engine. I am lucky that I have a dealer who has not let me loose any time on the water. I do hope you have your issues repaired, as well as mine. I would like to know what they come up with on the slow increase in RPM.
Good Luck
John

I guess it must be the white engines cause my 07 Black Suzuki 300 was flawess lol. I talked with my dealer yesterday and they said they just received the software update to fix the gauge issues so they will make arrangement to come up and do that upgrade. No word on the rpm issues. I told the dealer I was reluctant to take the boat in to the ocean as I had a trust issue with getting home and he assured that no matter what the engine would run with or without the gauges and get me home. I recently renewed my Tow US membership for a little more piece of mind. I also was made aware that this is the same engine used in one of the basic newer Cadillacs with the v6. Will keep you updated.

I initially thought it was a throttle position issue, I actually thought the throttle plate may have had a hard spot that caused it to surge past the intended spot. The dealer sent out a tech that plugged the computer into the tshoot port and let it do its thing checking all of the sensors while the engine was acting up. All diagnostics came back ok and within their individual ranges. At this point it would be best if the engine malfunctioned and kicked an error code. The 2014 has a few new features, one is o2 sensor and the other is troll mode. They even disconnected troll mode to see if that circuit may have been causing the problem but it did not make a difference. I am sure the manufacturer will work on the problem at the cost of the consumer that stepped up and bought the newest model with the latest features.

latest update
Met with my dealer yesterday to get an update on my engine issue repairs. They told me a new upgrade has been released to the dealers that takes care of the gauge hiccups they have been experiencing. My other throttle issues were forwarded to the regional tech as he just returned from Japan on latest tech training. The good news is I made a video of the problems as they were happening and those videos were forwarded to the tech for his review and hopefully what needs to be done. My dealer has been excellent and as I am due for my 20hr service, they provided me with filter etc for free as I will do the service myself. They feel bad but are on top of the problem so hopefully will get a call to bring it back for THE FIX. Will let you know as it progresses.

Not sure what upgrade level although my dealer said it is the latest and greatest. He has a boat with 2 of these motors and experienced gauge issues and he said it fixed all his issues. If I can find out I will post it. Do you have any issues between 1400-1700 rpm with no throttle response and difficulty holding an rpm in this range?

No I am not have any motor issues. Just the gauges doing some weird things like resetting on their own. Once it just froze and somehow got it to restart it was as if new, no settings remembered. Another time it said "checksum error" and all settings seemed to wiped and had to go thru setup steps again. It is just one of my two 4" gauges.

That's is the same issue I am having with my gauges. Dealer said the new fix will correct all of those issues. If you have no luck with your dealer you can call Outboard Specialties in Pompano where I purchased my motor. They can give you the latest fix revision. Excellent people to work with and they are the largest Suzuki Outboard dealership in the US

What version of software for gauges do you currently have? I have 2.5.0 which seems to be the latest according to Suzuki - LOWRANCE | Marine Electronics . Wondering if your dealer is getting updates before they are even posted. Thanks
