Bro-in-law bought old boat with dt 115 motor- been sitting up past five years. I'm supposed to make it run.
I cleaned out fuel tank, installed new fuel line/primer bulb, added fresh gas, cleaned carbs. It will start and idle decently, and it does charge (25 amp fused was replaced), the new waterpump installation works (whew- needed 4 helicoils-one bolt was broken, and I broke off three more) and oil tank has been filled and reset. The dash gauge says oil and water are both flowing after a few seconds of running on "ear muff". The only remainding prob before an onlake experiance will happen seems to be a non working tachometer. Dunno if it was working five years ago-but it dont now. How can I trouble-shoot this? The repair book/wiring diagrams that I have, seem to skirt around this issue. thanks in advance.
