DT 50 water pump R&R?
Help! I recently bought a 1978 DT 50 on a used boat. It appears that the water pump is not working. I bought a repair kit, but I can not get the foot off. I removed all of the bolts and the foot came down about 2" and stopped. Now I can not get it off or put it back on. It appears to be stuck.

maybe the gear shift linkage needes to be disconnected. -

Water Pump
There is a pin and a cotter key which has to be removed.Take engine cover off. Follow linkage from shifter cable to shift shaft that goes down to lower unit.Comment

Hi Larry,
Good advice on that linkage disconnect...question: I tried to pull my lower unit on my suzi DF 50 2008 and it came down aout 2 inches and would not come any further. Do I need to follow the same disconnect instructions you gave for the DT 50? Once I felt it would not come any further I looked inside made sure everything was aligned and bolted back up....would like to try a second time but need to know how to disconect the linkage...any advice?

Shift rod
There is a turnbucke that connects the upper & lower rods. Make sure to count turns so that you can put back in same spot. If you need any parts I beat anybodies price and free shipping in USA of orders $100.00 or more. I use fedx ground. I looked it up on the parts fich.Comment

Where do I locate the turnbuckle any more detail is appreciated.....I have been buying all my fluids/filters/etc from Browns Point...are you comparable price wise? Do I just need to email you what I need or do you have a site?Comment

Hi Larry,
Is the turnbuckle in this link, I need to visualize what needs to be done. Especially with the counting turns..can you elaborate....my goal is to put a new impellar in (not purchased yet) ....also any other recomendations on inspecions/replacements that should be done while the unit is seperated.
