Clearity on SMIS System Requirements

2010 DF250 twins with analog gauges and existing nema2000 system with Lowrance HDS7 and LCX38HD Units. Want to keep analog gauges, add engine electronic sensor info through my Lowrance equipment like fuel flow and consumption, oil pressure, engine temp, etc! I purchased 2 Suzuki 990C0-88148 SMIS Interface & Power cables. I can not find any info as to what I must have to complete the system. I had read so many diffent things and so many different people explain this so differently I am confused!!!!

I have a 26 ft cuddy fishing boat will I neeed to have two nema cables, one for each engine or can I T together close to engine and run one cable or what? I thank you in advance for any all help provided me!

You need only one NMEA2000 cable, known as the "backbone", which you already have. All connections to the backbone are made via "T' fittings. You will need an engine interface for each engine (which you also have already purchased), and these are connected to the backbone with the T fittings. Your interfaces should have come with instructions, but if not, you can download off the Suzuki Marine website, or some folks here will be able to provide you with help. You will be able to keep your analog gauges as well.

Your Lowrance HDS unit will read and display the information from your engines that you are looking for.

Sorry for the delay in answering, life got away from me a bit. I have taken your suggestions and have slain the Suzuki Interface Dragon!!! Couldn't have done without your help.... I really appreciate your info, for some reason I couldn't get started with the system. Mostly because I didn't want to screw up my outboards. I finally figured it out after a lot of money and time and parts! Then when I finished I went back to the earlier posts from you guys and suddenly it was clear as the nose on my face! Suzuki has shot themselves in the foot with the lack of information on this system, or is it the equipment manufacturers? Well I know I have great solid motors that run beyond great! I had Yamahas previously and had too many issues with them. It was always something. 4 years now with Suzuki's and not a problem one! Thanks again!
