Coming back from fishing engine would not go past 3000 rpm. Backed off put in neutral, then reverse and then started forward again. Still limit to 3000. Plenty of oil, no warning lights, no beeps or any type of alarm or warning. Is there a sensor out or does this mean there is something more serious involved?

On your DT225, I'd suspect one of the temp sensors is acting up. Not sure why you wouldn't get some indication, though. Your ECU should store any fault code(s), so you best bet might be to have a service center hook a computer and check for any codes.Mike

I'm wondering....when the revs seem that they're being limited, is the engine still feel like it's hitting on all six cylinders, or does it seem to be firing on only three? I'm really not familiar with your DT225, but on many V-6 engines, the overheat reaction is to run on three cylinders at a reduced RPM.Mike

It doesn't really feel like it is missing, more like it is starving for fuel when trying to power up. I guess that is the rev limit kicking in. At 3000 rpm it is smooth. I was thinking about pulling the plugs, cleaning and gaping. Also change out the fuel separator filter. Thinking maybe water got in to the system.
Also, I put the hose on and ran the engine in the driveway. I am getting water out of the pee hole but nothing coming out of the outlet in the back of the engine. I am guessing this might be an impeller problem. Not enough water flow to cool the engine while running. I would think I would have a warning light or signal telling me there is a problem. Hi, need to know if it misses exactly at 3000 or around 3000. A computer generated rev limit is smooth and exactly 3000 rpm. It also comes with a warning light and buzzer. Make sure the buzzer works...key to on and you should get a 2 second buzz...if not then trouble shoot your alarm system. The DT225 computer cannot talk to any other diagnostic computer so all diagnosis is the old fashioned way with test meters and lengthy troubleshooting time..I worked mine for 2 years see the following link http://www.suzukioutboardforum.com/s...ing-speed.html
