  • Need help with DF25 Timing Chain

I suspect I have a cracked head or blown head gasket on my '03 DF25?
Does anyone know how to remove the Timing Chain?

    Thanks

Looks like you need to pull the whole powerhead first.

yep you need to remove the lower unit then pull the powerhead off and turn it upside down, then the timing chain is underneath the motor and you can get to it.

it wasn't made to be accessible at all so its a PITA to get to and the whole motor has to be taken apart to get to it

just a heads up, to save a future problem, while you are at it, the timing chain needs to come off before you can remove the heads so if you are going this far its a good idea to remove the heads to clean out the water passages while its already this far broken down.

        keakar, thanks for the confirmation.

I have a feeling that it was clogged water passages that led to the problem.
We'll see once I get her apart.
